Introduction: The Forgotten Nation Before Humanity
Long before human beings walked the earth, another race of living spirits existed. They were the Djinn, beings made from a subtle, living fire. Anyone who studies spiritual science, ancient wisdom, or occult traditions must learn about them. Their influence extends across the hidden layers of existence, and understanding them brings both knowledge and protection.
Most Western beliefs divide creation into two kinds of spirits: angels and demons, with demons seen as angels who fell from grace. This is an oversimplification. The older traditions of the East, as well as ancient mystic writings, describe a third type of being, neither angel nor human. These are the Djinn, the fiery race who lived long before Adam.
The Creation of the Djinn
Before Adam was formed from clay, the Djinn already lived upon the earth and other realms. They were shaped from a flame that produces no smoke, a kind of living energy closer to light than to ordinary fire. Some teachings suggest that other beings may have existed even earlier, but it is clear that the Djinn were the last creation before humankind.
Because their essence is fire, the Djinn can change form, travel swiftly, and exist in both visible and invisible states. They were given intellect, free will, and long life. Their civilization spread through many worlds before the rise of man.

The Fall of the Djinn
Over time, the Djinn grew proud and rebellious. They disobeyed divine order, bringing violence, destruction, and chaos to their realms. To end this corruption, God sent an army of angels who waged a vast war against them. Almost all were destroyed; only a small remnant survived. These survivors hid in isolated places, the deep oceans, deserts, mountain peaks, and distant lands.
When Adam and Eve came into existence, they were unaware that an older race still lived unseen around them. Humans cannot perceive the Djinn unless rare conditions are met, yet the Djinn can see and hear mankind easily.
The Nature of the Djinn
The Djinn have societies, families, and moral differences just as humans do. Yet because they are made of fire, they are more flexible in shape and energy. Their world overlaps our own, though hidden from ordinary sight.
They can be understood through two systems of order: their connection to the four elements and their level of spiritual development or rank.
The Elemental Lineages
The Djinn are aligned with the four classical elements.
- Air or Wind Djinn – Beings of speed and communication who dwell in the skies. They are quick, intelligent, and often act as messengers.
- Water or Sea Djinn – Spirits of the oceans, rivers, and springs. They are emotional, creative, and deeply tied to dreams and hidden wisdom.
- Fire or Infernal Djinn – Strong, intense, and passionate. They live in volcanoes, deserts, and the upper layers of the atmosphere.
- Earth or Ground Djinn – Formed from a mix of fire and clay, steady and practical, guardians of minerals, plants, and healing arts.
The fire of their creation is not the same as earthly fire but an energy similar to a glowing plasma, alive, conscious, and subtle.

The Hierarchies of the Djinn
The Djinn exist in an organized structure, divided by power and purpose.
- Ruh or Spirit Djinn – The simplest type, often appearing as faint shadows, whispers, or temperature changes.
- Mukallaf or Tasked Djinn – Older and wiser, charged with specific duties or oaths, sometimes acting as guardians.
- Shaytan – Djinn who turned corrupt or evil, choosing harm and deception.
- Ifrit – Powerful and ancient leaders among their kind, strong in will and knowledge.
- Rahat – A group of Djinn united by shared energy, acting as one being. This type is extremely dangerous, as many minds move through a single form.

The Celestial Orders
The highest among the Djinn are known as the Moon or Light Djinn. They are bright in spirit and closest in nature to angels, yet they remain a separate creation. Their homes are not on Earth but around the planets and moons. They are few in number and rarely reveal themselves to humans. When they do, they appear fully human, dressed in fine clothing, calm, and radiant. Their power is so great that thousands of ordinary Djinn could not equal one of them.
The Planetary Djinn
Below the Moon Djinn are the Planetary Djinn, who dwell between the worlds and travel through space. They are beings of fire and air, highly intelligent and noble. Their forms vary; some look like humans, others like winged creatures or hybrids of man and beast. Myths of elves or luminous beings are often linked to them. When seen in human form, they may have slightly larger eyes or pointed ears but otherwise appear human.
The Water Djinn
The Water Djinn live in the oceans, lakes, rivers, and springs. Their nature ranges from gentle to fierce, and their forms from beautiful to monstrous. Some appear half-human, half-fish, resembling mermaids or sea spirits. Those of the mountain rivers are smaller and childlike, while the ones of the deep seas are vast and powerful. These are the beings behind many stories of sea creatures and water spirits.
The Fire Djinn
The Fire Djinn dwell in volcanic regions and the upper atmosphere. They are fierce, strong, and often feared by other spirits. Many look like a blend of human and animal—a man with the head of an eagle, wolf, or serpent. Some are giants, others human-sized. They are known as warriors, soldiers, and sometimes criminals among their kind. When appearing to humans, they may take the form of black animals such as cats, dogs, or ravens, each form reflecting their strength and nature.
The Earth Djinn
The Earth Djinn are the most similar to humans. They live in mountains, forests, and caves. Though they live simply, they are experts in the natural arts—herbal medicine, metalwork, and the crafting of stones and gems. Many human legends of dwarfs or gnomes come from encounters with them. They are careful and cautious, rarely harmful, but quick to defend their homes.
Interaction with Humanity
Dealing with the Djinn requires great care. Some are friendly, but many live by laws unknown to human morality. Attempting contact without spiritual preparation can lead to deception or harm. True communication must be done only through disciplined spiritual methods and divine protection.
